Two Red Balloons

This afternoon I was viewing

The vista out the window of

Our downtown highrise offices

I was happily thinking how

What had started as a grey day

Had become virtually cloudless

Only one wisp of cloud remained

And as my eyes were drawn to it

They spied two red balloons nearby

The two balloons were drifting loose

Hundreds of feet up in the sky

Clearly entwined and cavorting

They made me think of our two hearts

Dancing and free, soaring upward

In our vibrant, connected love

As they continued ascending

I noticed that they were headed

Toward the pale but visible moon...
