Im reading my undergraduate thesis
Written in 1972
While a six hour tape of music plays
I got the thesis out
In preparation for
Sharing it with my friend Rosalind
And decided to peek at it
To see what she would be encountering
The music tape, on VHS,
Is part of a series of several dozen
Recorded in 1991
To gather the songs
At the level I really like it
From my music collection
(There are higher levels,
Grouped under the heading Himalayas)
And is sequenced by song title
At the exact moment that
I reach the sentence
True love is thus telepathy-catalytic:
The Fleetwood Mac song
Gold Dust Woman is on
And Stevie Nicks says
True loves make bad lovers
We can only hope thats
Just Stevie's opinion J
(For fairness in reporting, I have to relate that after writing the above I looked up the lyrics, and Stevie is actually saying "Rulers make bad lovers." All this time I thought she was saying "True loves make bad lovers" --- it just illustrates how what often gets acted upon is what we think is true, versus what actually is true...)
