Timing Chain

After work one day

I've been dropped

At the local Sunoco

To pick up my car

Which I'm told is ready

So I tell my ride to go

But then it turns out

That I'll have to wait

About twenty minutes

After I sat inside

For fifteen minutes

Someone came and said

That the car was ready

I walk out of the office

Briefcase in hand, suit on

A man walks past me from

The self‑service island

He looks awfully familiar

After I take a second look

I'm sure enough to call out

"Don Hennessey!" to the man

He looks at me, then I see

Recognition and a grin

Dawning simultaneously

Don and his wife

Are on their way home

From a New England trip

They've only stopped for gas

Passing through the area

On the nearby interstate

Don has been one of

Our family business's

Most trusted employees

Since I was a little boy

Back in my home town in N.J.

He and his wife even know

Bob Johnson from Lakewood,

A star in the story 'Woodwork
