Yesterday someone brought over a printout
Well into the two‑inch‑thick dump of records
For a short stretch the small records
Were jammed together on the page
As the person was turning pages
A name caught my eye: J. McCartney
Later I finally got to look at a record
Generated in a different policywriting system
This one was to be my specimen
It involved J. McCartney
After work Maureen and I stopped in Lakewood
At the record store we were looking through
Hundreds of specially priced albums
When I pulled a recent Ringo record out to look at it
Opening the cover (it was not wrapped in cellophane)
The first snapshot catching my eye (out of 20 or 30)
Was of Paul and Linda McCartney
Last night Maureen called to tell me
Wings would be on the Midnight Special
Sure enough, leading off the show was a film of Wings
In Scotland singing their new song "Mull of Kintyre"
P.S.: Paul's first name is James
