On the way to work this morning

The word "metro" came up twice

In the space of a minute

The first time I noticed it

Was on the back of a car;

I can't remember exactly now,

But it must have been on the license plate frame

Right after seeing it, though,

Waiting at a light,

A truck facing me turned into the street to my right

And I noticed that above the cab,

In black letters on its white body,

Was the word "Metro" ---

It must have been the make of truck

Though that's an unfamiliar brand

At any rate, I noted this rapid repitition

And wondered if I'd see the word again soon...

Tonight I started watching last night's

Episode of The X-Files

And the first image of the show

Is the outside of a building

Labeled in large neon letters "Metro Diner"
