Happy Trails

The mind has many little hidden trails

That Man has never taken time to trace,

And here might hide the reason that he fails

To learn to live to love his fellow's face.

The future holds the features of his fate,

And he could glimpse those features if he thought

With faith enough to find the final gate,

The entrance to that realm he's always sought.

But chances are he'll never reach that stage

And understand the universe he haunts

Unless he somehow starts to act his age

And realize that he's a war of wants.

If Man can stand against the fall of night

Then men will dwell forever in the light.
