December's Children
Traversing volume four of Otherland
While burning a Stones anthology for Kevin
The song "Winter" is playing
And I hear the lyrics
"And I wish I was out in California
When the lights on all the Christmas trees went out"
Just before I get to the sentence ending with
"The forest was brighter than
The hillside they had climbed,
An endless twinkling bower
Like a gigantic Christmas display."
About a half hour later, while eating,
I'm looking at a pictorial article
Celebrating the 50th anniversary
Of the successful description of DNA
In a recent Science News
The Stones track "Citadel" is now on
And as I study a scanning electron micrograph
Showing DNA as a diagonal row of
Dark orange conical hills,
The Stones sing "you can see the pinnacles"
