Common Knowledge

As I was heading out the Lane

On my way to a Sayreville party via Bradley Beach

A car turned into the Lane from Hooper

Quite unusual, to pass another car on little‑traveled Barnes

Looking at it out of curiosity

I saw it was a black and brown station wagon

Oddly, when it was abreast of me

It slowed and stopped alongside of me

It was Harry Sepp

This was the first time I'd seen him driving his father's car

And so hadn't recognized his appearance sooner

I told him where I was headed

And asked if he'd like to come along

Not really expecting him to go on such short notice

He said alright and so we set off for Bradley Beach

When we got to my friend Randy's house in Bradley

I went to introduce Harry to Randy

But before I could finish

The two of them were laughing in reunion

They knew each other from Monmouth College
